Process for Marissa Wiebe’s Illustrations for How Does This Work?

We collaborated with and commissioned NB artist Marissa Wiebe to create the visuals that have become central to the design and concept of How Does This Work? Together we discussed the concept of a composite map of QC and NB waterways and land as a catalyst for Marissa’s creation. Marissa then decided to create the visuals using linocut stamps and paint to create the prints. The effect is one of traces and of imagination.

Erin adapted the visuals for web and chose to fragment the visuals in Katie and Erin’s poetry work and for each of the artist collaborators to signify scrap islands of refuge, connection and creativity that are mapped in the seafloor waters of life lived from 2020-2022.
